21 suspected LGBTQI members remanded for unlawful assembly in Ho

The Ho Circuit Court has remanded into Police custody 21 persons made up of 16 females and five males suspected to be Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI).

This follows their arrest by the Volta Regional Police Command at their supposed conference at the Nurses and Midwives Hotel in Ho on Thursday, May 20.

The suspects who fall between the ages of 23 and 46 are said to be residents of Greater Accra, Ashanti, Upper East, Upper West, Western, Eastern, Northern and the Volta Regions.

Public Affairs Officer of the Volta Regional Police Command, Sergeant Prince Dogbatse who confirmed the development to GBC NEWS said the suspects have initially been charged for unlawful assembly.
