Ghana is likely to face food crisis next year due to low rainfall, lack of access to adequate fertilizer and seed supplies to farmers.

Experts say episodes of the looming food insecurity is slightly being experienced with the shortage of maize and some poultry feed.

In an interview, a Member of the National Seed Traders Association of Ghana, Seidu Mubarak, partly attributed the situation to the delay in the payment of fertilizer and seed suppliers since last year leading to the halt in distribution.

He said although the Finance Ministry has instructed the Controller and Accountant General to release about ¢250 million to defray the debt owed suppliers, they are yet to be paid.
