They say, it’s better to burn out than to fade away. A new Association of Veteran Musicians who were popular in the 70s and 80s and played at the feet of the late King Bruce have come together to entertain lovers of live band music of old.

The Arts and Entertainment Desk was at the rehearsals of the legends of BB bands. We assure you, it’s some really good and danceable music.

Together as one, through thick and thin. This group has weathered the storm, survived changing trends and proven that they’ve got what it takes to keep a loyal fan base of BB bands made up of former bandsmen of Black Beats, Barbecues, Boulders, Barristers, Bonafides, B Soyoyo Extra “O”, Blessed Apostles and Barons bands. Notable names in these groups are Tommy Darling, Big Ray Otis, Eric Boone, Foster Lee, Ayi Brown and Jerry Hansen Jnr.

Though some are handicapped, the remaining Band’s men have come together to play their hearts out for survival. The groups gave us snippets of what to expect come December 8 at the Arts center, now the Centre for National Culture.

The rehearsals trended from Jazz, through to what they do best, Highlife.

The leader of the Rambling vibes, Mr Jerry Hansen Jnr, explained the rationale behind the upcoming concert.

I put the old boys to test to see whether the bones are rusty or if they still have it going on. I asked them to play any of the electrifying musicians’ songs. Sample this.

So, come Wednesday 8 December at 11 am, the Arts Center will come alive and enjoy veteran musicians who will treat lovers of highlife with some soothing highlife vibes.
