Ghanaians identify themselves with different traditional art forms including singing, dancing and other forms of related arts. These treasured practices have undergone many changes with the advent of Arabo-Islam and Euro-Christian cultures. Some of these indigenous practices have lost their effect and others have negotiated with foreign cultures resulting in unique forms of art which provide cultural alternatives to the demands of post-colonialism. One such enduring heritage is choral music which has seen pioneers and contemporary choral composers contribute so much to this genre of music globally. In this light the Ghana Broadcasting crowns this year’s heritage month with a choral festival dubbed GBC CHORALFEST 2022, to highlight the essence of indigenous Ghanaian Choral music and build on the pioneering works of Ghana’s great musical legends.

The theme for the festival is YEN ARA ASAASE NI: A CELEBRATION OF GHANAIAN CHORAL MUSIC HERITAGE. It comes off on Thursday, 31ST March, 2022 at the forecourt of UNIIQ FM at 4 .00pm. Featuring are the GBC Evergreen Choir, GMPC Choir, Tema Philharmonic Choir, Amazing Chorale Ghana, Greater Accra Mass Choir, E.P Church Central Choir and the Apostolic Faith Church Orchestra.

The programme would be telecast live on GTV, LIFESTYLE, UNIIQ FM gbcghanaonline.com and other GBC Social media handles. Join GBC’s Choralfest 2022 to celebrate Ghanaian choral music, our national identity, cultural heritage and a catalyst for national cohesion and development.
