FIFA Chief for Women Football, Sarri Bareman, has restated the importance of men helping to achieve the ultimate goal for the development of Women Football.

According to her, “it’s a big priority for us and we can always achieve our objectives with the men standing and supporting us as well. When we have a player like Diego Forlan who is pushing to support the girls and women because in the end this is about a legacy and what we want to leave in behind here in Uruguay, we want to live a legacy for all young girls in this country and the world over and we can only achieve this if we work together.”

Also in attendance at the event were, National Sports Secretary Fernando Cáceres, tournament ambassador Diego Forlán and representatives from the AUF and the LOC will attend the event, which will include a tour of the stadium facilities. The event was held at Charrua Stadium in Montevideo.

The opening match of the tournament will be between La Celestes of Uruguay and the Black Maidens of Ghana at the 14,000 capacity Estadio Charrua in Montevideo Tuesday, 13th November, 2018.
