The General-Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Solomon Kotei says the 2019 budget has little to offer the citizens, as the fundamental challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians have not been addressed.

According to the ICU General Secretary, government’s promise of more jobs and policies that will provide some relief in the country were not captured in the document.

The ICU said its expectations on tax cuts to support business growth were not mentioned.

Mr. Kotei questioned the motive behind the merger of the National Investment Bank and the Agriculture Development Bank into the National Development Bank. The move, the ICU cautioned will lead to more job losses in the country.

Meanwhile, the ICU commended government for reviewing the 35% personal income tax on 10,000 cedi earners to 20,000.
