The President of the National Association of Local Governance Authorities, NALAG, Eric Nana Agyeman Prempeh has added his voice to the call on Parliament to pass the Affirmative Action Bill into law to help increase female participation in decision making and local governance to accelerate development.

NALAG calls for passage of Affirmative Action Bill

 

Speaking at a capacity building workshop for Women in Local Governance in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, he encouraged institutions such as the MMDA’s, training institutions, to provide appropriate support to Women’s concern by creating an enabling environment for their participation in the development process.

He said the Association through its Women caucus will implement evidence based, gender sensitive policies and programmes through policy data integration.

About 100 representatives in local governance in the Eastern Region participated.

They were taken through local governance act and Sustainable Development Goal SDG, five.
