Galamsey: Government contemplates placing ban on Chanfan Importation

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says government is considering banning the importation of Chanfan into the country.

The move, he said forms part of measures to help stop galamsey activities destroying the water bodies and the forest reserves.

The President dropped the hint during a radio interview at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.

”Government alone cannot help in the galamsey fight”, urging citizens to own the campaign against the fight”.

President Akufo-Addo announced that out of the 33 factories being constructed under 1D1F in the region, 17 have been completed. Furthermore, 1 is currently operating.

He said the rest will be completed before his administration ends

President Akufo-Addo expressed optimistic that his legacies will help the New Patriotic Party, NPP to retain power in the 2024 General election.
