Eliminating gender-based violence remains one of the most difficult tasks countries are facing globally.
The 16-day campaign against such harmful acts is therefore to drum home the consequences of the act.
The launch of the campaign by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in Accra, is being run from 25 November 2022 to 10th December this year.
Despite many campaigns around the world to draw attention to the negative effects of domestic violence, it is still a global canker that governments are working hard to curb. Internationally, the 16 days campaign against gender-based violence starts from 25th November, 2022, through to December.
Many partners and organizations focused on issues relating to all forms of violence were at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange area for a walk through some principal streets with placards educating the public on this social abnormality.
At the Gender Ministry where the campaign was launched, Madam Alice Awarikaro, the Greater Accra Regional Director for DOVVSU reminded perpetrators of sanctions.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection designate, Hajia Zuweira Lariba Abudu, advised victims to speak up when faced with the situation.
A Renowned Musician, Okyeame Kwame who is a Campaigner and an Ambassador is lending support to this initiative to help minimize or eliminate this serious human rights and life-threatening health and protection issue.
