Seventeen babies were born at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua on Christmas Day. All the babies are healthy and doing well. This came to light when MTN Ghana presented hampers to the babies and their mothers at the hospital.

The Manager in Charge of MTN Mobile Money Services, Haruna Mohammed Yamba said this year has been a difficult and challenging one, and this is their way of supporting the mothers.

He stated that MTN is distributing the hampers to 500 mothers and babies in 40 hospitals throughout the country.

The Nurse in charge of the Neonatal Unit of the Eastern Regional Hospital, Joana Yeboah thanked MTN for the gesture and said some mothers who delivered at the hospital cannot pay their bills which is a major challenge. Some of the mothers who spoke to GBC News expressed appreciation to MTN for the gesture.
