The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked the Special Prosecutor and Parliament to investigate the latest Aljazeera documentary revealing the smuggling of Ghana’s Gold into other countries.
According to the NDC, the act is being spearheaded by the leadership of the NPP.
The NDC, at its Moment of Truth series in Accra, said happenings in the current government with regard to corruption and illegal mining place Ghana’s Presidency in an unfavourable light.
National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, said the NDC is deeply worried and saddened by the Aljazeera documentary in which a certain Mattias Aliza Company is smuggling the country’s gold to its benefit.
The party has challenged President Akufo-Addo to clear the matter.
The Moment of Truth series largely focused on the latest Aljazeera documentary and Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng’s report on illegal mining in Ghana, in which he detailed and mentioned some high-ranking personalities involved in galamsey.
National communications officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, said the two developments greatly put the country’s Presidency into a bad state and ”Parliament and the special prosecutor must investigate the matter”.
The NDC said it will, in the coming days, write to the Special Prosecutor and Clerk of Parliament to speed up the process of investigations.
