Director General of GBC, Prof Amin Alhassan, says ‘information disturbance’ in the media space has come about due to techniques that are used which do not allow the public to discern between mainstream and social media journalism.

Speaking at a GJA Forum on media space in Ghana, Prof Alhassan said the ”trends confront the professional practice of journalism”.

This is because there are no gatekeepers, no editorial control, and the receivers of the information are not able to trace it back in the event of misinformation and lack of ethics.

He added that news is ”driving towards information weaponization due to the proliferation of the media”.
