Government has announced a new price of ₵1,308 for a bag of cocoa starting from Saturday, September 9, 2023.
The amount represents 70.4% over the previous figure of ₵800 for the same quantity of cocoa.
Announcing the new price at the opening of the 2023-2024 cocoa season at Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality in the Ashanti region, President Akufo-Addo also announced that the price for a ton of the commodity has also increased from ₵12,800 to ₵20,943, the equivalent of $1,824, the highest in Africa in the last 50 years.
