A book that chronicles the working experiences of Brian Anku Sapati as a public servant has been launched in Accra.
Former Rector of GIMPA, Prof. Stephen Addai, who launched the five-chapter book, said Ghana is gradually slipping into the abyss in its governance space.
This is because the change of government has become state capture, where innocent public servants are chased out of office once there is a change of government.
Prof. Addai said the political agent vs. public servant distinction must be made clear in order to stop the harassment public servants go through every four years.

The book titled ‘Public Service, Your Obedient Servant’ detailed the public life of one of Ghana’s technocrat and former boss of the Serious Fraud Office, Brain Anku Sapati.
Mr Sapati, whose expertise and experience go far beyond Ghana to the ECOWAS, detailed in eight reminiscences how he was forced out as the head of various state institutions.
Prof. Steven Addai, who launched the book, said the state capture of power after a change of government is plunging Ghana into a darkness the country may be unable to come out of if nothing is done to stop the trend.
He said corruption, which has become the country’s bane, can be attributed to the removal experience of people who are clad in party political colours and booted out of office.
Prof. Kwamina Ahoi, who reviewed the book related to several of Mr Sapati’s working experiences as a public servant, described it as embarrassing and frustrating.
He recounted how, as head of council for a state university, he was sacked in 2017 when the NPP won the 2016 elections. He applauded Mr Sapati for his boldness and urged those with similar stories to share them.

The author of the book, Brain Anku Sapati, said his intentions for writing the book are to cause changes in the ways the country’s governance is being run. He said persons with great expertise and experience cannot help the country because they have been tagged as politicians.
The launch saw a galaxy of experts from academia, legal, health, and diplomacy, among other higher political and social luminaries. The first copy was sold for ₵10,000.

Tone-deaf, as usual. Do officials of NDC, and the former PNDC realize that they TOO sacked competent people, civil servants, then stayed in power for 20 odd years? The hypocrisy never fails to amaze me.
