Police assures public of maximum security during and after referenda

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of maximum security during and after the referend to determine the creation of new regions Today, December 27, 2018.

The police in a statement said pragmatic steps have been put in place during and after the exercise.

The police is therefore cautioning all to desist from unlawful act.

Also the Bono-Ahafo Regional Police Command, has vowed swift and decisive action against any troublemakers, who would attempt to disrupt the December 27 referendum in the area.

They are determined to ensure that the exercise is peaceful – smooth and incident-free.

The outcome of the referendum would tell whether two new regions – Ahafo and Bono East are going to be carved out of Brong-Ahafo.

A statement signed by the Police Regional Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong, called for everybody to conduct themselves well.

It said the Command had put in place adequate measures to forestall any breaches of law and that any individual or group out there to foment trouble would be arrested and prosecuted.

“The Command wants to warn all and sundry to abide by the rules and regulations governing the elections for us to chalk a success together”, it added.

The statement also cautioned drivers, pedestrians, motorbike, tri-cycle riders and commuters to obey road traffic regulations to promote accident-free Christmas.

“As we celebrate Christmas, police in the region have upped measures to check robbery, break-ins and other criminal activities, by intensifying mobile and foot patrols and increased visibility.”
