The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has officially referred three of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee for vetting and approval.

The nominees are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister-Designate, John Jinapor as Energy Minister-Designate, and Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Justice Minister-Designate. These appointments were announced in a message from the President’s office dated January 9, 2025.

Addressing Parliament, Speaker Bagbin said, “I have received on your behalf a message from the office of the President. Honorable members, I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the House.”

Following this announcement, the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, cautioned the nominees to prepare thoroughly for their vetting and emphasized that the process would be rigorous.

“We want to caution your nominees to come prepared. It is not going to be business as usual,” he said.

The Appointments Committee will soon schedule the vetting sessions to review the nominees’ qualifications and suitability for their roles.
