Health facilities across the country which do not obtain the requisite license from the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency, HEFRA to operate will soon be closed down.
The Board Chairman of HEFRA, Nana Otuo Acheampong, gave the warning at a media soiree in Accra.
He said failure to comply attracts a fine of five thousand penalty units or ten years imprisonment or both.
Meanwhile, the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency, HeFRA says it lacks personnel to undertake monitoring of all thirty three thousand health facilities across the country.
This the Agency sees as a challenge which needs to be addressed to deliver on its mandate.
The Acting Registrar of HeFRA, Mathew Yaw Kyeremeh, indicated that there is collaboration with agencies such as NHIA and the Pharmacy Council, but more hands are needed to get the work done properly.
This, he said will ensure health facilities exhibit high standards.
