Lawyer and human rights advocate, Gloria Ofori-Boadu, has asked Ghanaians to remain calm and avoid rushing to judge the current petition to remove the Chief Justice.

‎Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Monday, April 21, 2025, she urged citizens to respect Ghana’s democratic system and follow due process.

‎Mrs. Ofori-Boadu explained that Ghana is not just following a constitutional system, but a constitutional liberal democracy. This means the country not only follows the rule of law but also protects the rights and freedoms of its people.

‎“We are jumping the gun,” she said. “Ghana now practices a system that focuses on human rights — the right to speak, the right to be heard, and the freedom to assemble. These are all protected by our Constitution.”

‎She stressed the importance of respecting these freedoms and warned that taking action without a proper legal process could harm the country’s democracy.

‎Her comments come at a time when discussions about the Chief Justice’s position have become a heated topic. Mrs. Ofori-Boadu encouraged all sides to respect the law and avoid any action that could damage Ghana’s legal system.

‎She concluded by saying that all freedoms Ghanaians enjoy today should not be taken for granted, and must be protected through proper democratic channels.
