The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, has announced a renewal of the nighttime curfew in Sampa, a town in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.
The curfew will now be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. every day, starting Thursday, May 1, 2025. This decision follows advice from the Bono Regional Security Council and was made official through an Executive Instrument.
A statement from the Interior Ministry called on the chiefs, community leaders, young people, and all residents to remain calm and peaceful. The government is urging everyone to use dialogue and non-violent methods to resolve any issues affecting the community.
In addition to the curfew, there is a complete ban on carrying weapons in Sampa. Anyone caught with arms, ammunition, or any harmful tools will be arrested and prosecuted.
The curfew has also been renewed in other communities in the Jaman South Municipality. These include Drobo, Japekrom, Babianiha, Kwasibourkrom, Mpuasu, Basekrom, Kojokesekrom, and Katakyiekrom. The same curfew hours—10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.—apply to these areas as well.
