The Ministry of Roads and Highways says 77 percent of the country’s road network has not been constructed.

Out of the entire road network which is about 72,381 kilometres, only 39 percent is in good condition.

29 percent is poor and 32 percent is fairly good.

The Sector Minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta, who announced this in Accra, said even with the 39 percent which is in good condition there is still a challenge.

He said interventions are however being put in place to bridge the yawning gap.

He also stated that as at January 2017 road sector indebtedness stood at 1.56 billion cedis.

Mr. Amoako Atta said 18 weight bridge stations have been constructed nationwide to check the spate of overloading by heavy duty cars resulting in gory accidents.
