Croatian midfielder and one of the most decorated players in Real Madrid’s history, Luka Modric, has announced that he will be leaving the club after the Club World Cup. Modric, who has played nearly 600 games for Real Madrid and won close to 30 trophies—including a record six Champions League titles and four La Liga titles—revealed his decision on Instagram.
The 39-year-old midfielder will play his final match at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday against Real Sociedad in the last La Liga game of the season. After the Club World Cup, which begins next month, Modric will hang up his boots as a Real Madrid player.
“The time has come. The moment I never wanted to come, but that’s football, and in life, everything has a beginning and an end,” Modric wrote.
Modric’s departure marks the end of an era for Real Madrid. The Croatian playmaker has been an integral part of the team’s success over the years, helping lead them to numerous titles and earning individual accolades. His legacy at the club is undeniable, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest players in Real Madrid’s history.
