The Department of Cooperatives, under the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, has announced ongoing consultations with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to integrate cooperatives into the national Feed Ghana Project. This move aims to harness the power of cooperative societies to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security.

Speaking at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Adventist Heritage Cooperative Fund (AHCoF) in Accra, Acting Registrar of the Department, Edith Dziedzorm, emphasized the vital role cooperatives play in driving economic growth. Madam  Dziedzorm highlighted that the Department’s initiative is aligned with the government’s broader goal of promoting financial inclusion through the use of technology in the financial sector.

The Executive Director of AHCoF, Elizabeth Kusi-Nsiah, shared positive financial results for the year despite prevailing economic challenges. She attributed the Fund’s success to strategic investments and a commitment to prudent financial management.

“We offer loans at very low interest rates to SDA members, including farmers, to help them expand their operations, grow more food, and create more jobs,” said Mrs. Kusi-Nsiah. “This is our contribution to national development.”

She also assured members and clients of AHCoF that the Fund remains committed to member-focused service delivery. As part of its future plans, AHCoF intends to leverage technology to offer members more secure, convenient, and personalized financial solutions.

Both the Department of Cooperatives and AHCoF affirmed their commitment to supporting the government’s employment and food security agenda, reinforcing the critical role of cooperative societies in national development.
