The 37 Military Hospital in Accra will temporarily close its Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) from 4 to 14 June 2025 to carry out a fumigation exercise aimed at enhancing public health and safety.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant R.K. Kotoku, on behalf of the Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, the hospital announced the 10-day closure as part of efforts to maintain a clean and secure environment for patients and medical staff.

During the period, members of the public are advised to seek emergency medical care at alternative facilities, including Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), Police Hospital, and Lekma Hospital.

Lieutenant Kotoku noted that arrangements have been made to ensure that entitled personnel will continue to receive care through the Trauma Surgical Emergency Unit (TSEU), which will remain operational throughout the fumigation process.

The hospital acknowledged the potential inconvenience caused by the temporary shutdown but emphasised the importance of the exercise in maintaining healthcare standards and patient safety.
