The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Ghana Police Service in a joint operation has arrested fourteen (14) persons for allegedly dealing in illegal drugs in the Birim Central and Asene Manso Akroso districts.
The suspects were picked up during a special operation by the Narcotics Control Commission in Akim Oda and Akroso. The swoop was carried out after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance to break drug trafficking networks in the area.
During the operation, three licensed chemical shops were also shut down for selling unapproved and restricted medicines without the required permits.
According to information confirmed by Citi News, a large quantity of illegal drugs was seized, including cannabis and a local drug known as “red.” Some of the drugs were discovered in bulk, showing signs of a well-organized supply system.

NACOC says this is part of a larger crackdown on drug crimes in the region. The Commission is urging the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
