The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the government will recruit 50,000 teachers this year as part of efforts to boost the education sector.
Speaking in Parliament, Mr. Iddrisu also revealed that an additional 10,000 non-teaching staff will be employed in 2025. He explained that these recruitments are aimed at strengthening administrative and support systems in schools nationwide.
The Minister added that the recruitment process will begin once the Finance Minister grants financial clearance and the Auditor-General completes a payroll audit to eliminate ghost names.
He made these remarks while responding to an urgent question on the floor of Parliament.
