French Ligue 1 newcomers AJ Auxerre have secured Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Osman on a season-long loan from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, with an option to make the move permanent, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old forward arrives hoping to add pace and creativity to Auxerre’s frontline as they prepare for the challenges of top-flight French football.

Osman initially signed for Brighton in February 2024 on a long-term contract until 2029 after impressing at Danish side FC Nordsjælland, where he scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 54 appearances. Brighton reportedly paid around £16 million for the winger, who was immediately loaned out to Dutch giants Feyenoord for the 2024/25 season to gain further experience.

During his spell at Feyenoord, Osman featured in 32 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting three times. His performances showcased his attacking flair and versatility on the wings, though Feyenoord opted not to exercise the purchase option in his loan deal, leading to his return to Brighton this summer.

Auxerre, newly promoted to Ligue 1, view Osman as a key addition to help them compete at a higher level. The club hopes his speed, skill, and goal contributions will provide a much-needed boost to their attacking options as they seek to establish themselves in France’s top division.

Brighton, meanwhile, will monitor Osman’s development closely during his loan spell in France. The Seagulls’ coaching staff will assess his progress with an eye on his potential future role in their Premier League squad or possible further moves. Osman’s journey reflects the modern pathway of young talents gaining experience through strategic loan moves across Europe’s competitive leagues.
