The Ghana Police Service has taken action against a police officer who was seen in a viral video assaulting a reporter from GHONE TV during the ongoing re-run election activities in the Ablekuma North constituency.
According to a press release signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, the officer involved has been removed from election duty and placed under interdiction.
The statement explained that the officer has also been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for investigation, in line with the Service’s internal disciplinary procedures.
The Police assured the public that a full and thorough investigation will be conducted into the matter and promised to provide further updates as they become available.
