In an exciting finale of the Volta Regional Football Association’s Inter-Districts Juvenile Championships, South Tongu District emerged as champions in the U17 category, while Ho Municipal U15 Team won the U15 title.
South Tongu District defeated Afadzato District 2-0 at the Ho Sports Stadium in Ho to claim the U17 championship.
Both winning teams received a trophy, footballs, and sets of jerseys, as promised by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu.
Mr James Gunu congratulated the teams on their impressive victory, expressing his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sports development in the region.
Ho Municipal U15 Team dominated the U15 category, defeating Krachi District 2-0 in the final match. The team showed impressive skills, and strategic teamwork throughout the tournament.
Giant Adom and Famous Agama from the Ho Municipal FA team were named the Overall Best Player and Top Scorer in the U-15 category, respectively. Famous scored six goals in six matches.
In the U-17 category, Eduwoto Godwin from the South Tongu District FA was recognized as the Overall Best Player.

The success of the Inter-District Juvenile Championship is evidence of the Regional FA’s commitment to nurturing young football talent and providing opportunities for them to shine.
The current leadership of the Volta Regional Football Association, (VRFA) led by Chairman Daniel Agbogah, has been making significant strides in identifying and developing youth football at the grassroots level.
Thier efforts have been yielding positive results, with several districts producing talented young players.
Now in its second edition, the championship provides young footballers from the districts through the District FAs a valuable platform to showcase their skills.
The aim is to create opportunities for these players to be spotted by scouts, join the regional team, and potentially receive national call-ups.
Last year, Team Volta excelled in the Regional U-15 and U-17 KGL competition organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in Prampram. They secured first place in the U-15 category and third place in the U-17 category.
For the first time, contingent of football scouts across Ghana attended the Inter-District Juvenile Championship to identify which district is displaying realistic and exceptional talents for the potential football market.
This year’s Inter-District Juvenile tournament featured 15 out of 22 District FAs with over 500 U-15 and U-17 football players from the Volta and Oti Regions for a weeklong football festival which began on Monday, July 7, 2025, and concluded on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Members of Parliament Govern Agbodza and Dzifa Gomashie, who had representatives from Adaklu and Ketu South as well as Wisdom Kobina Woyome from South Tongu District (eventual U-17 winners), showed support through funding and presence for their respective district teams during the tournament.
