The Melcom Group has reaffirmed its commitment to saving lives through blood donation, with the launch of its 2025 Nationwide Blood Donation Campaign in partnership with the National Blood Service (NBS).

The event took place on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., at Melcom’s Head Office in the North Industrial Area, Accra, bringing together key stakeholders from the health sector, media, and the Melcom Care Foundation.

Managing Director of the Melcom Group, Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani described the initiative as a continuation of the company’s 10-year legacy of supporting health and education under its Melcom Care Foundation, the Group’s philanthropic arm.

“So far, we have collected 8,514 pints of blood through our annual drives. These represent thousands of lives saved; mothers in labour, accident victims, and patients in critical need,” he said.

Campaign to Cover 30 Shops, 4 Schools, and 4 Malls

The 2025 blood drive will take place in three phases:

Wednesday, July 23 – At four senior high schools:

Accra Academy, Ashaiman SHS, Apam SHS, and Gomoa SHTS in Dawurampong

Thursday, July 24 – At 30 selected Melcom retail branches across Ghana

Saturday, July 26 – At four malls:

Melcom Spintex Mall, Accra Mall, Achimota Mall, and West Hills Mall

All activities will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Qualified medical staff will conduct screenings, and care packages will be provided for all donors.

CSR Beyond Donation

In addition to blood donation, Melcom has contributed to health infrastructure. Over the past four years, it has donated 45 blood and vaccine refrigerators to 39 health institutions nationwide.

Breakdown:

2021 – 10 refrigerators

2022 – 10 refrigerators

2024 – 25 refrigerators

“Our mission is not just to donate blood, but to strengthen the system that makes safe blood available,” Mr. Sadhwani emphasized.

He also highlighted the group’s broader CSR efforts in education and community development, explaining that health and education remain the Foundation’s top priorities due to their national impact.

Melcom extended gratitude to the National Blood Service, participating schools, and its dedicated staff across branches for their commitment to this lifesaving cause.
