Toulouse FC has secured a promising addition to their squad with the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Abu Francis from Belgian club Cercle Brugge.
At just 24 years old, Francis’ arrival marks a strategic move by the French side to strengthen their midfield as they prepare for a challenging Ligue 1 season. His versatility and energy are expected to add a new dimension to Toulouse’s gameplay.
Last season, Francis was a key figure at Cercle Brugge, making over 30 appearances and demonstrating his ability to influence matches both defensively and offensively.
His performances also earned him five caps for the Ghana national team, highlighting his growing reputation on the international stage.
Toulouse’s management views his physical box-to-box style as well-suited to the intensity and competitiveness of French top-flight football.
“We are delighted to bring in Abu. His aggressive defense combined with the ability to dictate midfield tempo fits our tactical philosophy perfectly. He brings both stamina and skill, which are essential qualities for success in Ligue 1”; stated Toulouse’s technical director Viktor Behzani.
This signing reflects Toulouse’s ambition to not only compete but thrive in the French league.
For Francis, the move represents a new chapter in his career.
He expressed enthusiasm about joining the club and experiencing the culture of the Pink City, the nickname for Toulouse.
“Joining Toulouse feels like joining an extended family. I’m eager to embrace this challenge and connect with the supporters who truly make the club special”; Abu Francis said.
Abu Francis’ journey began at Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy, followed by a stint at Denmark’s FC Nordsjaelland before making his mark in Belgium. His progression through various European leagues underscores his adaptability and readiness for Ligue 1’s demands.
