The United States has donated over $1 million worth of high-quality, U.S.-manufactured women’s body armor to the Ghana Armed Forces, GAF.

The gesture is aimed at strengthening security cooperation and promoting the safety of female soldiers serving on the frontlines of peacekeeping missions.

At a handover ceremony held in Accra, Chargé d’Affaires, Rolf Olson joined Ghana’s Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Gbetanu, to officially present the equipment.

According to a post on the U.S. Embassy Ghana’s official Facebook page, the donation marks Ghana’s first-ever set of female-specific body armor, tailored to better protect women in uniform during their deployments.

The donation not only supports Ghana’s proud legacy in global peacekeeping operations but also reflects the United States’ ongoing commitment to peacemaking and gender inclusivity in global security efforts.
