2026 WCQ: 14 players present as Black Stars camp gets underway in Accra

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that 14 players are currently in the Black Stars‘ camp as the senior national team officially commenced preparations in Accra. Communications Director Henry Asante Twum disclosed this update as the team geared up for the crucial Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

Asante Twum, speaking to Asempa FM, listed the players already present in camp, including Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Salis Samed, Ibrahim Osman, Joseph Annan, Benjamin Asare, Ibrahim Sulemana, Mohammed Salisu, Jonas Adejey, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Caleb Yirenkye, Jerry Afriyie, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Tariq Lamptey. He clarified that the remaining players, notably Thomas Partey, are expected to join the camp later in the day.

Ghana’s schedule includes an away match against Chad on September 4 at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno MIDI, followed by a home fixture against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8. These games are pivotal for Ghana’s bid to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars have planned their initial training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the first held today and another tomorrow morning. Following these preparations, the team will travel to N’Djamena to face Chad as part of their qualifying campaign.
