US President Donald Trump has called on all NATO countries to stop buying Russian oil, and threatened China with tariffs ranging from 50% to 100% due to its Russian petroleum purchases.
“China has a strong control, and even grip, over Russia, and these powerful Tariffs will break that grip,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday.
He added that he believed NATO’s commitment to winning the war “has been far less than 100%” and that the purchase of Russian oil by some of the alliance’s members is “shocking”.
Addressing other NATO nations, the US leader said “it greatly weakens your negotiating position, and bargaining power, over Russia.”
