The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has made a historic payment of GHS 1 million to each of the 18 Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs as part of its new broadcast partnership with Adesa Productions Limited. This financial boost, confirmed by GFA President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, marks a major milestone in supporting the financial stability of Ghana’s top-flight football clubs.
Kurt Okraku announced the payment during the unveiling of Adesa Productions as the league’s broadcast rights holder on July 31, 2025.
He emphasized that the GHS 1 million per club represents the minimum guaranteed amount each club will receive under the new funding model, aimed at fortifying club operations and player welfare ahead of the season.
Beyond the cash disbursements, the GFA has also supplied every GPL club with 30 footballs and 30 pairs of boots, totaling 540 footballs and 540 pairs of boots league-wide. This provision is tailored to ensure that all players have the necessary equipment for effective training and matchday performance.
This strategic initiative is part of the GFA’s wider vision to professionalize the Ghana Premier League, establish sustainable revenue streams, and enhance the league’s marketability on both local and international stages.
The partnership with Adesa includes a comprehensive commercial plan focused on boosting sponsorship deals, marketing efforts, and increasing broadcast and matchday income.
Through these concerted efforts, the GFA aims to elevate the Ghana Premier League into a model of competitiveness and sustainability that will set new standards for football development in Ghana and position the league as a globally recognized competition.
