The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has issued a final reminder to journalists wishing to participate in the 29th GJA Media Awards to submit their entries before the deadline on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 23:59 hours. The Association stressed that there will be no extension of the submission period.
According to a press statement, only members in good standing are eligible to apply. Entries must consist of works published or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2024. Submissions are to be made strictly online via the WeTransfer link: https://we.tl/r-KqYf62tiQ0.
This year’s prestigious Awards ceremony will take place in Kumasi, at the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Regional capital. Organizers say the event promises to be a magnificent celebration of excellence in Ghanaian journalism.
The competition is open to journalists working in print, electronic, and online media, including news agencies. Applicants may submit entries in up to two award divisions, with no more than two works per division. However, the same work cannot be entered in multiple divisions.
Other requirements include the submission of clear, original published works, a passport-sized photograph, and, in the case of student journalists, a scanned copy of a valid student ID card. All entries must be titled “GJA MEDIA AWARDS 2025” and include the applicant’s personal details, media house, and contact information.
The GJA further noted that it is not bound to declare a winner in any category if no entry meets the required standard. The Awards Committee will select the best stories from each division for consideration by the National Executive, which will determine the overall category winners.
The 29th GJA Media Awards will recognize outstanding contributions to journalism while reinforcing the Association’s commitment to promoting professionalism and ethical standards within the media.
For further enquiries, journalists may contact the GJA General Secretary, Dominic Hlordzi, via 0208366615 / 0598825581 or hlordzidominic@gmail.com.
