‎Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has signed a Bilateral Debt Restructuring Agreement worth about US$256 million with the United Kingdom to support the country’s ongoing debt restructuring efforts. The agreement was signed in Accra with Mr. John Humphrey, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, representing the UK.

‎‎According to Dr. Forson, the deal represents another important step in Ghana’s recovery process and marks the third bilateral debt restructuring agreement signed by the country, following similar agreements with France and the Export-Import Bank of China.

He added that Ghana is also collaborating with UK Export Finance (UKEF) to restore funding for key development projects. These include the Bolgatanga–Bawku–Pulimakom Road Project, the modernisation of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Phase II of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange, Phase I of the Tema–Aflao Road Project, and the redevelopment of the Kumasi Central Market.

Also present at the signing ceremony were the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Christian Rogg, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Patrick Nomo, and other senior officials from both countries.

‎Dr. Forson noted that the milestone reflects the strengthening of Ghana’s partnership with the United Kingdom and expressed optimism that the cooperation will help advance the country’s economic recovery agenda.
