Over 100 teachers, headmasters, and ICT facilitators in the Ho Municipality, under the Ghana Education Service (GES), have been introduced to the Jesi AI platform, at the Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Teachers Workshop in Ho.

Jesi AI is a generative artificial intelligence tool designed to support educators and learners in improving learning outcomes.

It aims to shape the future of education in a smarter, simpler, and more impactful way for both students and teachers, ultimately helping to raise the standard of education.

The wokshop is the fourth in a series for educators in Volta Region, It took place at the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Conference Hall and was organised by Jesi AI, a startup currently part of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Cohort 2, supported by the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology(MEST).

The training session was also held in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ho Municipal Directorate, and Jangala(UK-based non-profit).

AI Engineer and Lead Facilitator, Felix Sam Nanor, says that AI is present in every industry, and it’s essential for teachers to embrace it as a classroom companion.

He stressed that AI cannot replace teachers, rather, it can help reduce their workload and enhance productivity in the classroom.

Felix Nanor and the Jesi AI team guided educators in exploring the Jesi AI interface, learning about its features like generating lesson plans and notes, establishing classrooms, setting up tests and assignments, and gathering feedback which is aligned with the GES curriculum.

Educators also learned how to customize features, allowing them to tailor lesson plans to meet the unique needs of their students.

AI Prompt Engineer, Ackon Asaase, who taught participants how to craft clear and precise instructions for AI systems to generate accurate responses noted that the quality of an AI’s output depends on the clarity of the prompts provided.

“The quality of an AI’s output largely depends on the clarity and specificity of the prompts provided,” he explained.

Ackon advised educators to avoid ambiguity to ensure that the AI understands the expectations.

Operations Officer at Jesi AI, Perfect Amegboe, encouraged educators to take advantage of digital tools, stating that they are designed to make teaching and learning easier while supporting productivity and enhancing learning outcomes.

She reminded attendees that the goal is to collaborate with AI tools to make classroom activities fun and engaging.

Acting PRO of GES, Ho Municipal Directorate, Elvis Bomassah, welcomed teachers and heads of schools to the fourth AI for Teachers Workshop, touching on the growing importance of educators embracing AI tools and integrating them into classroom practices to make teaching and learning smarter, more engaging, and results-driven.

He urged teachers to explore and maximize the Jesi AI platform to transform and enhance educational delivery in Ghana. Participants expressed their excitement about discovering the features of the interface and thanked their employers, the GES and the Jesi AI team for developing the platform.

An officer at the Ho Municipal Education Directorate in charge of Music and Culture, Amrago Richard shared his excitement, stating that teachers will save time in preparing lesson notes and generating questions for learners using the platform, and ultimately benefiting students.

He added that this initiative will help raise the standard of education in the Ho Municipality.

“Teachers will save time preparing lesson notes and generating questions for students, ultimately benefiting learners and helping raise educational standards in Ho Municipality,” he said.

Madam Peace Ackah, who disagreed with the notion that AI could take over teachers’ jobs, stated that AI only aids delivery, it is merely a tool to assist teachers.

She further encouraged parents who wish to enroll in the platform can do so to understand what their children are engaged in, highlighting potential benefits for families too.

Madam Ackah noted that the workshop has enlightened her on how to conduct more precise and meaningful searches on the internet having been clued in by the AI Prompt Engineer at the workshop.

The Jesi AI tool helps teachers to cut down lesson planning time and boost teaching efficiency, it supports students to learn on their own and achieve better results.
