The Ministry of Health has commended Telecel Ghana for its significant contribution to women’s health through the donation of advanced cervical cancer diagnostic and treatment equipment to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, expressed appreciation to the company for its partnership under the government’s MahamaCares Initiative through the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, describing the gesture as a strong example of “Corporate Ghana for Health.”

The donated equipment, valued at approximately US$38,000, includes digital colposcopes, gynaecological examination couches, and lamps, all essential for accurate screening and early diagnosis of cervical lesions. Similar equipment has also been installed at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and Sefwi-Wiawso Government Hospital.
According to the Health Minister, the initiative is expected to help detect at least 2,800 undiagnosed cases of cervical cancer annually and benefit over 10,000 women within two years. He also commended Telecel Ghana for its two-year commitment to provide consumables and spare parts to ensure sustainability and uninterrupted service delivery.

The Group CEO of Telecel, Mr. Moh Damush, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility, stating that “community transcends technology,” and that real corporate impact is measured by improving lives beyond business operations.

He noted that the partnership with the Ministry of Health underscores Telecel’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of Ghanaians, especially women who are most vulnerable to preventable diseases.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed gratitude to both Telecel Ghana and the Ministry of Health.
He highlighted that the donation will enhance early detection efforts, improve medical training, and strengthen diagnostic capacity at the facility.
Akandoh further urged other corporate institutions to emulate Telecel’s example by supporting government initiatives to expand cancer care, dialysis, and diagnostic services across the country.
