In the Upper East Region, excellence in sports journalism has once again been recognized. Abagna Nelson has been crowned the Sports Journalist of the Year for the fourth consecutive time, solidifying his position as one of the region’s most influential voices in sports media.
At a colourful awards ceremony held in Bolgatanga over the weekend, Abagna Nelson was honoured with a citation of honor, a commemorative plaque, and a cash prize in recognition of his outstanding contribution to sports journalism. The event, organized by the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) brought together journalists, media stakeholders, and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
Nelson, who works with GBC URA Radio was praised for his in-depth analysis, accurate reporting, and commitment to promoting local sports talents and events. His consistent and passionate storytelling has played a crucial role in uplifting sports development in the Upper East Region.
Nelson’s story focused on the abandoned Navrongo Sports Stadium project, where he passionately called on the government to complete the project to accelerate Sports development in the area. The humbled Abagna Nelson expressed appreciation to his listeners, colleagues, and mentors, saying the recognition motivates him to work even harder.
