Mr. Leslie Osei Bonsu, elder brother of the late Nana Agyakoma Difie, has been selected as the next occupant of the Silver Stool of Mampong.
He was formally introduced to the kingmakers and later presented to the Mampong Traditional Council at a meeting held at the Amaniamoong Silver Stool Palace in Mampong before midday today.
Sources within the traditional council told GBC News that the selection process proceeded smoothly, with no objections raised against Mr. Osei Bonsu’s nomination.
The newly selected Mamponghene is expected to be presented to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the coming days to receive official approval.
The Mampong Stool, also known as the Silver Stool, holds significant importance in Asanteman, serving as the second most prominent stool after the Golden Stool. Mr. Osei Bonsu’s selection marks the beginning of a new chapter in the traditional leadership of the Mampong area.
