The Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, Dr Prince Kwakye Afriyie, has asked Ghanaians to ignore the propaganda on the double track system to be introduced next month, saying the initiative is not to destroy the country’s education as some people are peddling round but a temporary measure to solve the congestion as a result of the implementation of the free SHS Policy.

Dr Afriyie was speaking at the 10th biennial holiday camp of the Methodist Guild at Wenchi in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The government is finalising steps to adopt the double-track (semester/sandwich) system to deal with increased enrollment under its flagship programme, the Free SHS.
The new system is also expected to tackle the infrastructure deficit that has hit the programme since its inception in 2017.

The objectives of the double-track system are to create room to accommodate the increase in enrollment, reduce class size, increase contact hours, and increase the number of holidays, government has said.
