Ghana’s senior men’s national football team, the Black Stars have been shortlisted for the Men’s National Team of the Year award at the forthcoming CAF Awards 2025.

The shortlist features Africa’s top performers with outstanding contributions to both club and national football between 6 January and 15 October 2025.

Black Stars’ nomination as men’s national team of the year is the country’s only nomination in the men’s categories announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It places them among ten national teams recognised for progress and impact over the review period.

They share the category with Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Tunisia, and the Morocco U-20 team.

Nominees were chosen by a CAF-appointed panel made up of members of its Technical and Development Committee, experienced coaches, former players, and media representatives from across the continent.

The panel evaluated performances in international competitions, qualifiers, and domestic leagues during the 2025 assessment window.

While the Black Stars remain Ghana’s only representatives on the men’s list, the Black Queens have made a far stronger impression on the continental stage with five nominations at the CAF Women’s Awards 2025.

Final winners will be decided through a voting process that factors in input from national-team coaches and captains, journalists, and CAF technical experts.
