Accra: Kayayes equipped with vocational skills by AG-Care Ghana

Close to 50 women especially Kayayes have been equipped with various vocational skills as part the AG CARE programme. According to AG-CARE GHANA, this is part of efforts to eliminate poverty and improve the socio economic standards of vulnerable women especially Kayayes. 

The AG CARE programme, has over the past twenty two years been involved in the socio-economic well-being of Ghanaians.

This project by the AG-CARE of the Assemblies of God Ghana has been in partnership with organizations such as the UNDP, UNICEF and the Government of Ghana. The board chairperson of AG Care Ghana, Forster Afenyo congratulated the ladies for their resilience to defy poverty by ensuring they are equipped with vocational skills under the programme.

The Executive Director of AG Care Ghana, Ernest Asigiri noted that the number of the vulnerable women on the streets are overwhelming. This he said, demands more resources which is limited.

The cohorts of 22nd edition were presented with certificates and start up kits. Some trainees who spoke to GBC NEWS mentioned how the skills they have acquired will go a long way to improve their standards of living as they will now be gainfully self employed.

The project by AG CARE now more visible in the North to address the push factors that leads to the ladies migrating down South.
