Ghana’s push for comprehensive digital literacy took a major step forward on November 12, 2025, with the official signing of a strategic partnership between PAMEPI Women in Tech Ghana and Afide Ghana (formerly Recell Ghana ComputerLabs).

The signing ceremony, held during the National Digital Education Conference at the University of Ghana, Legon, formalized a commitment to roll out sustainable, high-quality computer labs in underserved communities across the country, starting with the Northern Region.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Hanc de Bokx, CEO of Afide Ghana, and Chief Fuseini Yakubu, Executive Director of PAMEPI Women in Tech Ghana.

Afide Ghana operates a unique model, establishing fully licensed and internet-connected computer labs in partner schools. Crucially, the model ensures lifetime maintenance, repairs, and teacher training, which is sustained through a small, token fee paid by the students eliminating dependency on grants and ensuring true longevity.

PAMEPI is leveraging its strong grassroots network and focus on equity to drive the expansion of this model, particularly in the North. This effort was successfully piloted earlier this year with a demo launch at Business Senior High School (BISCO) in Tamale, which saw 63 computers installed.

The significance of the partnership for digital inclusion was amplified by speakers at the conference.

Alberta E. Ferguson, Program Coordinator for PAMEPI Women In Tech Ghana, delivered a powerful goodwill speech, urging all stakeholders to fully embrace digital education through the establishment of these maintained computer labs. She stressed the importance of ensuring that every child, regardless of location, has access to the tools that define the future.

Mr. Pim de Bokx, General Manager of Afide Ghana, shared the organization’s core aim: to provide a zero-worry digital solution. “Our method guarantees that schools can enter the digital age and focus on making learning exciting, while we handle the maintenance, connectivity, and hardware for a lifetime,” he noted.

The event was attended by high-profile government officials, underscoring the national relevance of the collaboration. Dignitaries present included Professor George K.T. Oduro (Technical Advisor to the Minister of Education), Prof Diyawu Mumin – Executive Director of CENDLOS, Mr Miracule Gavor – Director, GSET, Mathew Darkwa – General Manager, AmaliTech Ghana, Heads of schools etc
The PAMEPI-Afide partnership is set to be a significant driver in ensuring equitable, sustained access to digital skills training across Ghana.
