Ghanaian Hiplife and Hip Hop artiste Medikal has shared rare details about his personal life, his music journey, and his plans for his upcoming Beyond Kontrol (BYK) concert scheduled for December 13 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking in a lively and candid interview on the PrimeTime show on December 3, 2025, Medikal talked about becoming a father again and revealed the unique name he has given to his new baby, “Space.” According to him, the name represents freedom, possibility, and an “infinite world.”
“I want the child to go into an infinite world, that’s why I named the baby Space,” he explained. His first child is named Island, and he says he is currently focused on raising the two children and giving them the attention they deserve.
Medikal shared a heartwarming story of how Island recently joined him on stage unexpectedly. “She wasn’t supposed to come, but she refused to go home. She wasn’t shy at all,” he said with excitement.
During the interview, Medikal also spoke about his personality and how people often misunderstand him because of his public image. He said some fans assume he is rude, but meeting him in person usually changes that perception.
“Some people say I’m rude, but when they meet me, they realize I’m different. I like reality. I don’t fake anything,” he said.
Medikal added that he does not switch between his stage persona and his private self because what you see is what you get. “I don’t know when to remove the Medikal jacket and replace it with Kwabena Adu. It’s the same person,” he joked.
He also addressed claims that he flaunts wealth. According to him, many of the flashy lines in his songs are simply artistic expression. “I don’t show anything off. Some of the things in the songs are just Laboro,” he said humorously.
Reflecting on his career, Medikal credited his success to passion, consistency, and talent. He believes talent must lead the way before marketing or money can make an impact.
“Talent is the prime source. Without talent, marketing won’t take you anywhere,” he said.
The rapper explained that even after releasing big hits, he still returns to the studio the next day. “I might have the hottest song in the country and still wake up and go to the studio. I’m hungry for this. I love the art.”
Though considered one of Ghana’s top rappers, Medikal believes he is still growing. “I’m getting there. I’m still learning. I have many loopholes to fill,” he said.
Before wrapping up, Medikal officially announced his upcoming BYK concert happening on December 13, promising an unforgettable night for his fans. He encouraged music lovers to come out in large numbers to celebrate his journey and enjoy powerful live performances.
