U.S. President Donald Trump has been honoured with the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize during the recent World Cup draw ceremony held in Washington D.C.
The prestigious accolade recognized Trump’s contributions toward fostering global peace through diplomatic efforts and international cooperation.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino spoke emotionally about the importance of peace in today’s troubled world, saying, “We witness the heartbreaking effects of conflict on innocent lives every day. The world needs hope and unity more than ever, and President Trump’s role in the Middle East peace process has been a beacon of that hope.”
In his acceptance speech, Trump praised the universal appeal of soccer, calling it “a remarkable force that brings people together beyond borders and differences.”
He also highlighted the record-breaking enthusiasm for the upcoming global event, promising fans “a tournament unlike anything they’ve ever experienced.”
The United States, alongside Canada and Mexico, is set to jointly host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a historic collaboration in North American football.
Organizers are preparing for what many expect to be the most inclusive and widely watched event in the sport’s history.
