The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has reiterated its commitment to transparency, personnel welfare, and national security as Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyepong, addressed officers during the end-of-year interdenominational service at Burma Camp.
Lieutenant General Agyepong highlighted the importance of accurate information flow within the military, warning that misinformation could erode discipline, morale, and cohesion among officers and soldiers. He urged personnel to verify facts before sharing news, particularly on social media, emphasizing that responsible communication is key to maintaining operational effectiveness and public confidence.
Beyond information management, the CDS reassured personnel of the GAF leadership’s focus on welfare improvements. Plans are underway to construct over 2,000 new housing units across garrisons by 2026 to address accommodation challenges. Additionally, the Armed Forces intend to leverage internal expertise to pursue income-generating ventures to support operations and welfare programmes.
Lieutenant General Agyepong also reaffirmed the GAF’s readiness to safeguard Ghana’s territorial integrity while maintaining public trust, noting that transparent communication and responsible behaviour are essential for national security.
The annual interdenominational service provides an opportunity for reflection, thanksgiving, and unity among officers and personnel, reinforcing the values of discipline, service, and collective responsibility.
