Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has publicly reacted to the arrest of Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, stating that he is unaware of the specific offence committed by the viral figure but believed from the beginning that he was simply creating content.
The multiple award-winning artiste shared his views in an Instagram story on January 2, 2026, after a video surfaced showing Ebo Noah in handcuffs being escorted into a police vehicle. Sarkodie questioned the basis of the arrest and suggested that Ebo Noah’s actions did not initially appear criminal.
“Don’t know exactly what my boy’s crime is, but from day one I knew he was making content, unless he’s been charged with something else,” Sarkodie said.
Ebo Noah was arrested on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, by the Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting Team at Weija-Gbawe, following months of nationwide anxiety sparked by his prophecy that a devastating flood would hit Ghana on December 25, 2025.
Born Evans Eshun, the 33-year-old content creator and self-styled prophet gained viral attention in late 2025 after claiming to have received divine instructions to warn Ghanaians of an impending catastrophe. He predicted that a three-year global flood would begin on Christmas Day, drawing parallels with the biblical story of Noah.
Ebo Noah documented himself on TikTok and YouTube building wooden “arks” in locations including Elmina and Kumasi, claiming the vessels were meant to save believers. He said he was constructing as many as 10 arks across the country.
According to him, the rains were expected to begin on December 25, 2025. When no flood occurred on the predicted date, Ebo Noah claimed that his prayers and fasting had persuaded God to postpone the disaster.
Public outrage intensified after Ebo Noah appeared on stage at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic 2025 concert on December 25—the same day the prophesied flood was expected to begin. The appearance sparked criticism, with many accusing him of deliberately fueling public fear.
Following his arrest, Ebo Noah was arraigned before the Adentan Circuit Court on January 2, 2026. The court remanded him into police custody for two weeks and ordered a psychiatric evaluation at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital.
He is facing charges related to spreading false news and causing fear and panic, and is expected to reappear in court on January 16, 2026.
The case has continued to generate intense debate on social media, with sections of the public agreeing with Sarkodie’s view that Ebo Noah was merely engaging in content creation, while others argue that his actions crossed the line into dangerous misinformation.
