Story by Dennis Bebane
The Dombo Family says it has not issued any endorsement, formal or informal, supporting Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s candidature in the NPP flagbearer race. There is no authenticated statement, press release, video, audio, or public record from the Dombo Family confirming such support. A statement issued and signed by Mohammed Dombo for the family follows a news item published by United in Truth with the headline: “Dombo Family Endorses Bryan: Signals Northern Shift.”
Mr. Mohammed Dombo said the article published by United in Truth fails to cite any verifiable source, let alone a direct statement from family members or custodians of the Dombo legacy.
The family therefore demands answers from the publisher: where, when, and who made the endorsement on behalf of the family.
“We, the Dombo Family (and concerned stakeholders), wish to categorically and unequivocally refute the false publication by United in Truth on January 6, 2026.
This publication is a palpable falsehood, unsubstantiated by any credible statement, record, or endorsement from the Dombo Family. It appears to be a politically motivated misrepresentation intended to mislead the public and sow discord during a sensitive period in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal leadership contest,” the statement said.
He said that contrary to the United in Truth claim, multiple credible Ghanaian news outlets have reported the Dombo Family’s genuine political posture — specifically, their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Notably: “On December 13, 2025, the Dombo Family publicly received Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at their ancestral home in Duori, where they commended Dr. Bawumia and pledged their support and prayers for his victory in the NPP race.” This interaction was documented by Graphic Online, a reputable national news outlet.
Earlier reporting by AdomOnline confirmed that the Dombo Family reaffirmed their support for Dr. Bawumia during the NPP race, countering narratives that suggested otherwise. This consistent reporting from mainstream media contradicts the United in Truth story and aligns with the Dombo Family’s historical engagements, including the enskinment of Dr. Bawumia with a traditional title that symbolises honour and affiliation.
“We call on all Ghanaians to exercise caution and demand accountability from media platforms that prioritise sensational narratives over factual reporting.”
He urged the public to disregard the false publication and treat it with all the contempt it deserves.
