The Ghana Education Service (GES) has begun investigations into an alleged feeding problem at Savelugu Senior High School following a video circulating on social media.

‎In a statement dated January 16, 2026, the GES said it has seen the video and takes the quality of student feeding very seriously. It described any form of mismanagement as a serious offence, noting that it undermines government’s efforts to improve the school feeding programme.

‎According to the Service, student feeding across the country has generally improved due to effective collaboration between the National Buffer Stock Company and school heads.

‎GES, however, assured parents and the general public that the situation at Savelugu Senior High School is an isolated case and does not represent the feeding conditions in schools nationwide.

‎As part of efforts to ensure quality feeding, the GES Monitoring Team will intensify unannounced visits to schools across the country.

‎The Service also urged stakeholders, especially school heads, to report any challenges they face promptly to enable management to respond in good time.

‎The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
